This lovely image possibley is the Queen Mother of the West,as she wears a headress centered by a phoneix under a softly flowing hood which extends to her shoulderws and slightly down her back. Her delicately carved face stares down serenely through half closed eyes under arched eyebrows and above a pursed mouth with a hint of a smile. She wears a high collared robe with her hands held at the waist and coverd by a ritual cloth. A three layered sash hangs from her waist to the top of her high two tiered backless pedestal. Most of the polychrome has been removed, although there are traces of the original green pigmentation of the phoenix as well as pigment defining her facial features. She has been mounted on a contemporary frosted lucite base.
