Guanyin sits in padmasana, both feet exposed and facing soles upward. Her delicate hands rest in her lap in dhyana mudra, the gesture of meditation. Her fingers are placed in triratna with the thumbs touching to symbolize the three gems of Buddhism: the Buddha, the Sangha and the Dharma. Her square face, with partially closed lotus shaped eyes cast down and under painted arched eyebrows and her small bud shaped painted lips, is set in deep meditation Her face is framed with finely carved hair pulled up behind a tall rectangular slightly degraded crown with deeply carved florals Three part plaited braids flow over her shoulders. The stark white skin of her face, hands and feet are in sharp contrast to her tri colored three part robe with a red shawl and cobalt blue borders and sleeves, and cobalt blue tunic and green undergarment. A red ribbon is tied at the waist under a beaded necklace crisscrosses her chest.

She sits on a backless pedestal above a round base that is covered with a cascading red cloth.
