Guanyin in Meditation on Lotus

In this sensitive carving, Guanyin sits in padmasana with the soles of her feet held upward and her hands in meditation (dhyanasana) with her fingers touching in the triratna position. The image is one of stability and strength, with the bent kneew forming the bottom of a triangle which ends in the point of her three lobed crown which is centered by an image of the buddha Amitabha. She sits on an elaborately caved four tiered open lotus throne set a top a footed and waisted pedestal. Her delicated arve red robes are set of by the gold pigmentatin of her face, hands and chest. Her pensive half closed almond shaped eyes fgaze down in serene compassion. The image is in excellent condition with the original lacquered pigmentation in tact.
