This image of the Queen Mother of the West sits serenely on a backless throne, her right hand grasping the long sleeve of her left arm, obscurng the left hand. The image is triangular in form with the phoenix in her crown forming the apex of a stable figure with a broad base. She wears a high collared deeply carved robe which falls to the tips of her shoes and is gathered at the waist with a wide sash. The figure is in good shape with the exception of the age crack in the front of the robe from the the tip of the hand to the bottom of the statue, and insect holes and losses to the front, back and bottom of the image.
