This statue was probably made in a rural area, as it is more human and less spiritual than most Guanyin images and reflects a form of folk art in its simple rendering. She stands on a high pedestal (now degraded) with her right hand pointed downward, palms out, and her left obscured by a ritual cloth. Her headpiece, centered by a seated Buddha Amitabha (also slightly degraded) holds her hair back in three clusters, each with a different color ribbon. Her shawl is decorated with a simple stylized flowers motif and extends over her shoulders and is gathered at the waist to partially cover a red apron, also with simple painted flowers, which her hands down over a green skirt.
