Antique Head of Guanyin on Lucite

This finely carved head of Guanyin is portrayed as a mature serene female with arched brows over heavy lidded almond shaped downcast eyes, prominent nose, full cheeks and bud slighly smiling closed lips and small double chin. Her top knot is held behind a high and lobed tiera centered by an image of the Buddha Amitabha. Her face is framed by rounded waves of hair on her forehead and tresses looped over her pendulous ears and a draped scarf extending from her tiara. Although there are losses to the tiara, neck and scarves. most of the original lacquer and pigmenation are in tact. Mounted on a lucite base.
