Wood with Polychrome
32" x 15" x 11"
( 81.28 x 38.1 x 27.94 cm)

This extremely serene meditating Guanyin sits in padmasana, feet bare with soles up. Her well defined and delicate hands rest in her lap, fingers in triratna with the thumbs touching to symbolize the three gems of Buddhism. Her oval face, with partially closed lotus shaped eyes and small pursed lips, radiates peacefulness and calm meant to compose and motivate the devotee to share the tranquility on his/her path to enlightenment. Her face is framed with hair pulled up behind an elegantly arched and deeply carved crown centered by an image of the Buddha Amitabha and by tendrils of hair which flow over her shoulders. She is garbed in a vibrant three part robe with a blood orange shawl with cobalt blue border and sleeves, cobalt blue tunic and lime green undergarment tied at the waist. Her chest is bejeweled with a multi tiered beaded necklace

She sits on a plain backless pedestal covered by a deeply carved blood orange colored ritualistic cloth which mirrors the color of her shawl.
