Blue and White Tea Pot

This delicate teapot is decorated with underglaze blue and white bindweed design which includes a central chrysanthemum motif surrounded by vegetal and circular forms. This design element was used widely in the mid to late 19h century in China for domestic ware and for export throughout South East Asia. The lid, which has slight chips, is toped by a knob probably representing a lotus bud.
